Review of 2008 Bodog Poker Open

Last week saw the inaugural Bodog Poker Open played out at Bodog Online Poker Room. There were six events throughout the week, the culmination being the Main Event on March 9th. The winners of each of the first five events automatically qualified for the Main Event – which carried a $470 + $30 buy-in.

 

The first event, a $250 + $20 No Limit Hold ‘em tournament, attracted 377 players. The prize pool stood at $104,250 – including $10,000 added. It was won by rusostreet, who took away $26,062 and a seat to the Main Event.

 

Second was the six handed $300 + $25 No Limit Hold ‘em event with 249 players. The winner, 3pounder, took away $23,292 from the $84,700 prize pool – beating a field of 249 players.

 

Next up was the $100 + $10 No Limit Hold ‘em rebuy with 270 runners and a prize pool of $102,800. PckAces was the victor, winning $28,720 to go with the ticket to the Main Event.

 

For the fourth event, there was a Pot Limit Hold ‘em tournament with a buy-in of $200 + $15. The 185 runners contributed to a prize pool of $47,000 and the first prize of $14,100 was won by foldpreflop85.

 

The final tournament before the Main Event was Fixed Limit Hold ‘em with a buy-in of $150 + $10. The winner – bigcatfish – beat a field of 174 to win $10,830 from the prize pool of $36,100.

 

And so to the Main Event, with 596 runners competing for a prize pool of $305,120 including $25,000 added. The top 54 paid with the eventual winner taking $76,280 and an engraved Omega watch.
