Game rules for Craps

Objective

The objective of craps is to wager on the outcome of the two dice that are thrown across the craps table.

Understanding the Craps Table

The game of craps is played around a table that is divided into three different sides – the left side, the center side and the right side. All the different betting options are reflected in these different areas on the table. Up to twenty players can play around a craps table and there are usually several attendants around to make sure that the game runs smoothly.

Understanding Craps Bets

As mentioned, there are a significant number of betting options in the game of craps. The single most important thing that players can do is to get to know these options well before wagering for real money. Some of the more common bets include:

The Pass Line Bet – The player predicts that the first roll of the dice (the come out roll) in the game will total seven or eleven. If this is the case, the Pass Line bet wins. If the come out roll is 2, 3, or 12, the Pass Line Bet loses. Other numbers on the come out roll become what is known as the Point and other wagering rules apply.

Place Bet – When the Point number has been determined on the table, players make a Place Bet. Bets are placed on 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10. This bet wins if any of these numbers are rolled before a seven is rolled.

How to Play Craps

All bets are placed by players in the specially designated places on the craps table.

Players take turns around the table to be the ‘shooter’ in the game. This task entails rolling the dice. The Shooter’s Rule determines when the next player takes on the role.

The dice are rolled across the table.

The dealer determines which bets win and which bets lose.

All winning bets are paid out by the dealer.

The craps table is cleared for another round of the game.

Conclusion

For players seeking a game that relies solely on chance, without the need to learn endless strategies, craps is the way to go. While the betting options may seem slightly ambiguous in the beginning, a few rounds of free craps online will soon have players familiar with the game in no time.
