Current Season: Revised Structure

Completed Tournaments

Scores will be calculated from the tournaments completed to date, including tonight. (So Tuesday 1st June, Thursday 10th June, Sunday 13th June).

These score will not count towards Live Final Qualification, however, the top ten highest scorers will receive the relevant Weekly Prize

Scoring System

The scoring system will be as originally planned.

Players will be awarded points on the following basis :-

1 point for entering a tournament
1 point for every player you finish above in a tournament
1 point for every $ won in prize money

Only the best two scores for a player will count each week.

If a player plays in three tournaments in a week, they will receive a bonus 5% on their score for that week. If a player plays in four tournaments in a week, they will receive a bonus 10% on their score for that week.

"Warm-Up" Tournaments

The following two weeks worth of tournaments (starting Tue 15th June) will be warm-up tournaments. The schedule will be as originally planned, i.e.

Tuesday 8pm
Wednesday 8pm
Thursday 7pm
Sunday 7pm

There will be no minimum entry requirements, and no guarantees. However the top ten scorers each week will all earn a "Weekly Prize"

Weekly Prizes

1st - $50
2nd - $25
3rd - $15
4th - $10
5th - 10th $5.5 tournament ticket.

League

Starting Tuesday 29th June, the league will start in earnest, for 13 weeks. All points earned from the point forward will count towards a players league total. Each week there will be four tournaments in accordance with the above stated schedule. The above scoring system will be used. Each week, the top ten point scorers for that week will be awarded the relevant Weekly Prize as stated above.

Live Final

The Live Final will take part in October (probably the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of the month) at a location to be decided by our poll in this forum.

The top 40 players in the league will automatically qualify for the league, subject to having played a minimum of 22 tournaments throughout the main season.

10 final places will be made available by way of a play-off at the end of the season - anyone who has not qualified but played in a minimum of 22 tournanaments throughout the main season will be eligible.

The final prizepool will be made up of $100 per player that plays in a minimum of 22 tournaments throughout the main season. The prizepool will be guaranteed at $5,000. So if there are 50 or less eligible players, there will still be a $5,000 tournament.

Register

To register, just send an email to service@vippokerleague.com with your Full Name and bwin Screenname. That's all you need to do - all your points earned will then be added to your league total. If you do not have an account at bwin, please click here to sign up.

Website

The website will be updated by the end of the business day on Monday 14th June to reflect these changes. Scores so far will be added to the website by end of the business day on Tuesday 14th June. All scores from weekly tournaments will be added within 48 hours of the end of the tournament.

Hi everyone,

Well, that's it all finalised. Not quite where we wanted to be, but this at least does enable the league to go ahead, and definitely culminate in a live final. I expect we'll have a lost a few players over the last couple of weeks, but hopefully those that have remained committed will continue to play. It's still somewhat surprising that the numbers of people taking part in the tournaments is so low, given the number of people that registered, but maybe that will change throughout the season.

We remain dedicated to growing this league over coming seasons, and I very much hope we manage to that with the support of our existing players while attracting some new players. Ultimately, we just want this league to be fun, have as much added value as possible and always result in a live final.

Any questions or thoughts, please email me or post here.

Cheers,

James

James.

Ok I have drafted up a post and posted on both of the forums I am involved in.

Thanks for delaying the start till I get out of Hospital, and maybe now get a few of the players I know signed up to play. I cant promise you hundreds, but I can promise you some good poker will be played !!!

I wish you luck in this, and its just a pity I did not know about this last year.

If anything I can do to help, just hollow.

Hi James,

Thanks for sorting that out, I am the Northern Area Manager for Champions Poker League, we have sent all our venues an intro leaflet for the VIP Club online game.

With your new arrangements, I have just emailed all the players in the North East informing them of the changes so hopefully we will have some more players from CPL.

Kind Regards

SUMO

Plaza, Sumo - that's great. I'm sure the more people find out about this league the more will get involved - and that will helps us make the league bigger and better for future seasons!

Cheers,

James

SUMO - The head and shoulders icon goes against your own screen-name when you are participating in a tournament. So everyone will see that against their own name.

Plaza - the league tables will all be at VIP Poker League, which is being updated today.

Any more queries, just let me know!

James

James, I've just seen that you posted on PL forum that this week is the last week. According to the above the league was to run for 13 weeks, therefore should end next week.

I've only been able to play 2 games a week and had to miss a few weeks so was on 16 at the start of this week. (7pm is too early start for me) I've played 3 this week to make up for missing a week (2 played and 1 sat out) and was planning the same next week to make me up to the 22 to qualify. If you change the end date without giving us notice of this it I'm sure I won't be the only regular who will miss out on playing the required number and therefore won't qualify for the final.

Please stick to the orignal schedule and run the games next week.

Avongirl,

Of course we will stick to the original schedule, it was just me losing track of things!! Sorry for the confusion.

I'll make sure the games are setup for this coming week.

Cheers,

James
