Would it not be better, to start a fresh league now?

Put the new rules in place and with all the stuff that was discussed in place and have done with this old format....... Give it a couple of weeks time to get the word about and go from there?

Hey all,

Looks like bwin didn't change the tournaments in time for last night. I'm getting straight on to them today to ensure it is done for tonight. I'll keep everyone updated here and get an email round to everyone through the day.

Cheers

James

Hey all,

Great news James, well done and thanks for all the effort on our behalf!! Love the 'ramblings' and the passion Shotfox, I was going to echo your sentiments from that earlier post but looks like everything is about sorted now.

Couple of my suggestions were going to be to scrap the team aspect of the league and scrap the guarantees also. Perhaps the amount of tournaments a week was putting people off too, going from once a week on 4 sites to 4 a week on one site may have alienated people who perceive that you need to play in all 4 a week to stand a chace of making the final.

I was going to suggest perhaps trimming it down to 2 tournaments a week this season and then scale it up in the future, but perhaps it has all been sorted out now. As long as there is a league and a live final I think everyone will be more than happy. Hopefully it can be expanded further in future seasons to encompass some of the aspects that have had to be dropped.

Someone just mentioned it earlier I think but perhaps the league proper and points etc should start from next Tues so it starts at the beginning of a week, and gives a chance to get as many people as possible informed.

Bwin should definitely try and market it a bit more too. More information on their site etc. They aren't a bad site but often information is minimal or non-existant and is often put up late.

Am very glad that there'll be some form of league going ahead though, so well done fopr making it happen guys. Hope everyone keeps supporting the league and we can all drum up some more support over the next few months.

Just realised i'm taking a leaf out of Shot's book haha so it's time to tie this up.

Good luck everyone, let's make this league a success!!!

Hi all,

Ok, here it is.

The league is going to continue over the same period, with the same scoring system. Players will earn points in the same way, and only the top two scores will count.

There will be no minimum requirements for the tournaments, and there will be no guarantees in the weekly tournaments. Teams will be scrapped, and all players will be playing as an individual.

There will be no mini season prizes, but there will be increased weekly prizes (approx $150 worth each week). Last weeks and this weeks scores WILL NOT count towards the league, but we will be giving away the weekly prizes to those who did well in last weeks tournament, and for the remaining two this week.

There will be a Live Final, with 50 runners qualifying (exact qualification criteris to be announced tomorrow).

The Live final will have a prizepool based on how many regular players we have in the tournament. A regular player will be someone who enters at least 20 tournaments across the whole series. For every regular player, there will be $100 in the prizepool. However, we a GUARANTEEING a minimum of $5,000. If we get 50 or less regular players then it will still be $5,000.

We will select a minimum of 3 locations for the final, and will give players the chance to vote on which location suits them best. The most popular location will be used.

Full terms and conditions will be released tomorrow.

We realise this is a bit of a reduction in what we had planned - but then we've had much lower participation than we expected. This way, players can play KNOWING that there WILL DEFINITELY be a Live Final, albeit a probably reduced one. However, this enables us to keep the league going and in the meantime we can work even harder on getting more players involved, and we can plan for future seasons too.

Thanks again to everyone for the support, and I hope this proposal is satisfactory to you all!

James

May I suggest a couple of weeks break to give time to spread the word about.
I am part / Mod of a biggish Forum, and I think I could get some people signed up and play this League.
I would do it sooner but I go in Hospital on the 17th for a week, so I will be struggling for time.

I agree that Bwin could of marketed a bit better TBH, but because I get emails nearly every day, I dont often read them and I almost missed this one about the league to.

Thoughts?

Plaza,

A bit of a delay might not be a bad idea, as we've obviously lost a bit of momentum. How confident are you that you could get some fresh faces in?

I'll speak with the rest of the team and see how they feel. Maybe we could still run the tournaments for the next couple of weeks to keep things going, but make them "warm-up" tournaments. Put some added value in by way of either added money in the prizepool and/or weekly prizes, but scores don't start until a couple of weeks.

Anyone else any thoughts.

Cheers,

James

Hi James,
I agree with a lot that has been said here, personaaly I like the multiple chances of playing during the week as there are evenings I can't play.
Again as others have said it's not the money I play for but the chance to play in the live final - I've played in two and have enjoyed both.
Something I've mentioned to you before is maybe look at taking out a page ad in 'Poker Player' magazine, I think this is the most popoular UK mag and try to get BWIN to help with the cost.
So in a nutshell entrance fee should be a couple of dollars with maybe a small guaranteed prize fund and as someone mentioned maybe non VIP members could play but coulldn't collect points untill they had registered.
Keep up the good work

Cheers

James,
I could throw a post up in my Forum. But would defo need all the info regards when where how. So a final draft from you with regards this and I would copy and paste it.
I am also a member of another Forum were it was an invite only. But just recently opened the doors to one and all. I would also post it in there and see if anyone decided to play.

If you could put in a link so when I copy and paste it, they could then sign up to Reg, it would be even better.

I like the idea of the Poker Mag being involved, but I dont know if you have already tried this route. Anyone ever tried to send in an email to give the League a plug? It worked in this month's mag regards the Star letter wanting to plug a game to save a football club ( My home town which is why I noticed it ).

Anyway let me know, like I said I have till late 16th June, to post in both forums, after that I will be hospital AM 17th June, and dont know the state after the week in there I will be in regards able to move etc etc.

Nigel, we will definitely look at the magazine advertising for future seasons. We had a number of routes to market for this season and we felt quite confident we would get the required numbers to go ahead in the original format, which would enable us to push on more for future seasons and look at the national advertising then.

It is clear the live final is far and away the biggest appeal and that was always the main point of the league - to mix live and online poker.

The choice of a number of weekly tournaments was included for the very reason you state. IF someone wants to/can play in four, then great - but as a lot will only be able to play a couple each week, this format suits everyone with only the top two scores counting.

Plaza, we are going to give things a two week "break" (although there will still be a chance to win some money during the two weeks) so please do use the opportunity to tell your forum members. There will be an email circulated later today with all the new details, and a new post in this forum. I'll make sure there is instruction about how to register in there for any new players you can bring on board. Thanks a lot for offering to do this and if you need anything further, please let me know.

Cheers,

James
