Poker Rules

Hi Guys, I was recently in a friendly poker match and came across a situation. The small blind did not have sufficient chips for the blinds, in this case he had 100 and the blinds were 200/400. He went on to win the hand and the table gave him the pot because it was the blinds only. Should he have received the full pot or only what was matched to his bet of only 100. In brief the small blind, only bet 100 and two players played the blinds with400 each making the pot 900. small blind won the pot and took all 900 or should it have been 300? all responses to this query will be appreciated.

Brian,

He should definitely only have won 300. That sidepot should have been created pre-flop - the other 600 + any further action could only have been won by the other two active players.

Hope this helps.
