> How to play AK?

How do you play AK in say early middle and late positon. Espically early as im sure you raise in middle and late depending on the action before you.

I never seem to get any action and when i do i normally lose so could do with some advice on how to play it.

I do terribly with this hand. I always get excited because I realise it's one of the best starting hands but then never really know what to do with it.

Mind you, I don't really "know what to do" with any hand just yet as I'm still finding me feet in this game. Be interesting to see some reponses here from more experienced players??

Sounds like we are in the same boat. I always overbet it and get no action or under bet and lose. Lately I have just been overbettting to win the pot but it has backfired a few times and knocked me out a tournament.

I'm guessing if you don't hit the flop you generally let it go?

You want to get it down to you and 1 other player on the flop. Then bet whatever the flop. If he raises you have to flod but if he calls you are in a great position to win the pot.

Yes i would like to know this aswell. I normally play it aggressively and win a few chips or lose alot.

AK can be a tricky hand to play but he is some advice that my help some players, it you are a aggressive player then always make at least a 3xBB bet. If people know your aggressive then you will get the max when you hit and they dont believe you.

However if you are quite passive and have AK in early position, just call the BB and see a flop, bear in mind if there are more than 4 people in the pot be prepared to fold your top pair if it goes crazy as you have only put iin the min. But in mid and late position make a 3xBB bet pre flop, and continue with a half pot bet post flop, you will now know where your at and again, lose the min, or sucker someone in to extract the max when you hit.
